Fish Pass was a channel that was dredged through Mustang Island in 1972. Its purpose was to help fish migrate between the Gulf and the bay. However, the jetties at the mouth of the pass were too short and the pass quickly began to fill up. By the early 1980s it had completely silted up. The Fish Pass jetties remain a popular place for fishermen.
