9 Mile Hole North in the Upper Laguna Madre
GPS Coordinates – N 27°05.159' W 97°24.621'

9 Mile Hole is often just called "The Hole". It was originally known as The Graveyard because fish would gather here and then as tides fell and summer heat evaporated the water, they would become trapped and die. In the 1970s, several passes were cut between 9 Mile Hole and the Land Cut, providing the fish with an escape route.

9 Mile Hole is a very shallow area with scattered grass beds. It is a well known hotspot for redfish although increased fishing pressure has reduced its productivity. The entire area has been designated as a mandatory no prop zone.
