Site access restricted. On the island over 320 species have been catalogued by TPWD and the USFWS including White-tailed Hawk, Whooping Crane, Brown Pelican, Peregrine Falcon, and a host of shorebirds. The ferry that once ran between Port O'Connor and Matagorda Island is no longer operational.
