Birding In South Texas

South Texas is truly a paradise for birdwatchers. The Texas Coast and the Rio Grande Valley are two of the hottest birding areas in the US. Corpus Christi was recently named America's Birdiest City for the seventh year in a row and the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is home to one of the rarest birds of all, the whooping crane.

Stxmaps.com has more than 300 birding sites, sanctuaries and rookeries listed. Including all of the sites on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail for the Central Texas Coast (CTC) and the Lower Texas Coast (LTC).

World Birding Centers
The World Birding Center is a network of unique birding sites in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Drive through subtropical Texas to share the borderlands mix of Texan and Mexican heritage, and take time to look for any of the more than 500 bird species that have been documented in the region.
