Ennis Joslin Indian Burial Ground

Map This Site!

In 2000, work was begun to improve Ennis Joslin road. During the construction, it was discovered that there was a very large ancient Karankawa Indian burial ground and remains of camp sites underneath the road. For at least 100 years, people have found artifacts and remains of ancient Indians in the area, but until recently, no one realized how extensive it was

The site and the road wind along the shoreline of Oso Bay from Ocean Drive to SPID. It is believed that this site was used from 2500 BC to 1000 AD and it is the second largest known Indian burial ground in Texas.
