Scientific Name: Pomatomus saltatrix
Common Name: Bluerunner
 
Description: The Bluefish is blue or greenish blue on it's back with silvery sides. It has a large mouth with prominent sharp teeth that are compressed. The dorsal and anal fins are nearly the same size. It has small scales and a lateral line that is almost straight. Bluefish generally travel in large schools following baitfish. They are cannibalistic & all members of a given school are usually about the same size. They spawn offshore in spring and summer.
