With all the water, coastal prairies, and marshes, Calhoun County is a favorite place for birders and photography with more than 400 different species of birds. Calhoun County includes a number of sites that are on the Tres Palacios Loop and the Calhoun Loop of the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.
