Scientific Name: Coryphaena Hippurus
Common Name: Dorado, Mahi Mahi
 
Description: Dolphin are bright greenish blue above, yellow on the sides, with capability of flashing purple, chartreuse, and a wide range of other colors. Their body tapers sharply from head to tail, there are irregular blue or golden blotches scattered over the sides. The anterior profile of the head on adult males is nearly vertical. The head of females is more sloping. The single dark dorsal fin extends from just behind the head to the tail. The anal fin margin is concave and extending from the anus to the tail. The Dolphin is one of the fastest growing fish in the Gulf. It may reach 30 lbs in it's first year though believed to live only around 5 years. Excellent table fare.
